How to Get Abs

Before we discuss how to get abs fast, we ought to first talk about the basic component of that question, getting abs. First of all, you already have abs. We all do. In fact, we all have six pack abs, and if you’re one of the genetically gifted, you may have 8 pack abs. The problem is not that we don’t have abs, it’s that we can’t see them. And this is truly the key, because there is no number of crunches you can do to bring out sexy six pack abs if you have too much belly fat covering them.

In discussing how to get abs we need to look at two components, exercise and diet. Exercises for the abdominals will not necessarily aid in the speed of getting ripped abs, but it will give you the shape and muscle necessary to show off nice abdominals once you have flat abs. There is no single best exercise for the abdominals. As with most things, our bodies grow when they are stimulated but intense and challenging efforts. This results in an adaptive response that causes us to build muscle. If you like crunches, do crunches. If you like leg lifts, do leg lifts. Better yet, do both. You have two choices. The first is to monitor your repetitions and length of sessions, and then try to do more in the same amount of time each week.

The other option is to change to continuously harder exercises as you get stronger. You can start with basic crunches, and once you can do 15 or 20 in a single set of controlled movement, then you can move up to the plank. The plank is simply a static hold, where your body is in a pushup position, but rather than being supported by the hands is supported by the forearms. Once 2 sets of a one minute static hold can be performed, move up to leg raises and eventually leg lifts while hanging from a pull up bar. These exercises performed twice a week will build sexy six pack abs that will shine once your body fat is low enough. This brings us to the next factor, diet.

When answering the question how to get abs we can’t get very far if we only talk about exercise, because the truth is, flat abs don’t come from exercise. They come from low body fat which results from a healthy diet. If you have too much belly fat, then your abs will be hidden. If that describes you then you need to change the type or quantity of food you eat. It’s important to reduce the amount of saturated and trans fats you eat, as well as ‘white’ carbohydrates like bread, pasta, and French fries. So to get abs, one must do abdominal exercises to develop the abs as well as diet to reduce belly fat and create definition.
